Welcome to U14 boys Waterpolo

Training for U14 boys starts this Sunday, 28th Feb, 2.00pm – 3:30pm at Sacred Heart College (SHC) pool

All welcome. Come along meet the coaching team and learn about the season ahead.

Could everyone meet on the field outside the pool at 1:30 for introduction/warm up with Tim Hunt (head coach) and the coaching team.

We aim to be in the water at 2pm (all going well this should be immediately following the U12s training).

As this is a Pan Pacific competition year the season is set out a little differently.

At this stage training for Term 1 will be two training sessions each week:

Thursday evenings at SHC 7:30-9pm and

Sunday afternoon at SHC 2pm - 3:30pm

U14 boys grade is for boys born 2002 or later.

For boys interested in playing, it is important that you register on the Marist Waterpolo website

2015 Season

20:12:2015 Div 1 Nationals

Had the semis been against North Harbour, it would likely have been a different outcome.
Still, both Red boys and girls got Bronze.
Marist Blue boys finished on a high, beating North Harbour B in the play offs for 11/12th - making them the best B boys team of the competition ;-)
Marist Blue girls came 6th, putting them right in the middle of the group.

Well done to all, and thank you particularly to the coaches and managers who made the tournament possible, and the players who played their hardest in every game.
Not the result we hoped for… though the boys played their heart out in the semi finals. That it came down to penalty shoot out was unfortunate, because Tauranga’s goalie (eventual MVP of the tournament) didn’t get that title for nothing.

Over the weekend a group of Under 14 boys were selected to attend a development tournament in Rotorua.

With development the key focus of the weekend, the boys learnt a great deal of skills with many of them having never played with a shot clock before. From thr first game to the last, the standard of play from them dramatically improved which was pleasing for both the coaches and parents alike. Although they came away winless, the boys turn their focus to the up coming Auckland league where they can apply their newly acquired skills.

Training times are very close to being finalised.
We are hoping for training to start in July. Dates and times are likely to be confirmed in the next couple of weeks.

The boys will take part in the usual competitions for the U14 age group: a selected team in the Rotorua Development tournament in August, the usual Auckland season in Term 4, and Nationals in December. Nationals Division 1 will be from 17 to 20 December 2015 in Wellington, and Division 2 from 12 to 15 December 2015 in Tauranga.

Hope to see you soon.

Marist take Under 14 National Title

The Marist U14 boys had 4 teams this year, with all doing very well throughout the season.

The Red team dominated the season from start to finish, making it through the season undefeated and capping off the year with the U14 boys National title. The Blue boys came away from division 1 Nationals 11th, whilst the White and Black boys came 4th and 7th respectively at division 2 Nationals.

The U14 boys were an awesome bunch of kids, including some young boys who have shown some great potential to develop and build on. All the boys came away from nationals looking forward to next year. Special thank you to the coaches who have been outstanding this year and bought out the best in their teams, and thanks also to the managers, parents and supporters.
